The Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA), in collaboration with the Department of Rural and Community Development, wishes to connect with groups or individuals in rural areas to participate in the free Programme of ‘Talking Art Online’ for adults.

People from all over Ireland are invited to join us for this free online art experience via their local Broadband Connection Point.

The programme will take a closer look at selected artworks from the IMMA Collection and discuss IMMA exhibitions with our Visitor Engagement Team online. The programme is very conversation based and no previous experience is required. Selected Art works will be shown on screen and the group will be prompted to take a closer look and respond to the themes discussed in the art works. The programme offers an easy entry point to a variety of other free online programmes available at IMMA.

The session will be led virtually through Zoom. Participants should have access to a computer, smart phone, or tablet with a camera. Internet connectivity will be provided at your local Broadband Connection Point.

Over the next few weeks, Oonagh will conduct online painting classes, during which you will explore with her all the basics of how to paint with acrylics. Each week, Oonagh will approach a different topic, and teach you the basics. This will include colour mixing, still life composition, portraits, landscape, and many more techniques.
Oonagh will also share her ongoing works during a virtual visit of her studio.

Adult classes (participants need to be 15yo+).
No previous painting experience is needed.

The Remote Working Training is focused on the training of administrators in Broadband Connection Points (BCPs) and Community Hubs, facilitating remote working in line with government policy. Ludgate has been appointed by the Department of Rural and Community Development to provide virtual training and supports to BCP’s and Community Hubs in Ireland.

The aim of this training to provide the learner with structured learning opportunities leading to the development of a foundation or intermediate level knowledge, skill and competence in the development of a broadband connection point (BCP) and Community Hub.

The training programme will be delivered virtually via zoom and is free of charge.

The Starter class is aimed for those considering starting a BCP or Community Hub

Irish Oscars BCP Film Festival

The Irish Film Institute (IFI), in collaboration with the Department of Rural and Community Development, wishes to present a collection of Irish short films, all Academy Award nominees, delivered simultaneously via high-speed broadband to BCP audiences all around the country.

People from all over Ireland are invited to join us for this free online film festival experience via their local Broadband Connection Point.

BCP Film Festival

9 June 2022 @7.30pm

The Irish Film Institute (IFI), in collaboration with the Department of Rural and Community Development, are delighted to present the
BCP FILM FESTIVAL.

The IFI has compiled a collection of 6 family friendly Irish short films, all Academy Award nominees, exclusively for BCP audiences all around the country.
As well as the movies, exclusive interviews with the film directors have been conducted especially for the BCP audience and will be shown during the evening.
The event will run for approximately 70 minutes, is free of charge, and is available exclusively through the BCP network.
So set up a few chairs, cushions or bean bags, get the snacks ready, roll down the cinema screen and get your local communities together to share a very special evening of free entertainment!

To make it an evening to remember, DRCD will provide €100 for snacks and refreshments for each participating BCP, so don't forget to register your interest!
If you are taking part, don’t forget to take pictures of the evening and submit them to the Department, and the best event might get a surprise prize!

The participating BCPs will receive a downloadable link on the evening of the event and will only have to press a button to launch the whole event.
BCPs wishing to screen the festival will require a computer, a screen and projector (or an extra wide TV screen) for viewing.

In addition, a wider collection of short films will be available for viewing on the IFI player from the 10th June 2022 to watch at your community’s own leisure.

Meath BCP Resilience Concert Screening

People from all over Ireland are invited to join us for this free online music and culture festival experience via their local Broadband Connection Point.
Delivered by the team behind the SoFFt Nights, the Thinning Veil and other cultural events across Ireland, Resilience: Revel once Again presents an evening of music and voice. Recorded in July 2021 this evocative evening considers the role of community and connection in all our lives.
Presented by Joe Rooney, the evening has conversation with Andy McEntee and Emily Duffy and performers from across traditional Irish genres.
Music performances include Joy Booth, Bernadette Ni Gabhann And Antoin Mac Gabhann, Catherine and Jacinta McEvoy, and Robert J Ardiff are complemented with performances from playwright Deirdre Kenahan and poet Sean Ruane.
The concert will be delivered through a downloadable link sent to each of the participating BCP locations.

The Regional Development and Innovation team in DRCD are planning to hold a number of workshops with BBOs and BCPs over the next couple of months. The purpose of the workshops is for us to engage with yourselves and the local communities where there are BCPs in order for us to develop a better understanding of the needs and goals of the BCPs.

We are going to be drafting a BCP Development Strategy after these workshops and the information we gather will feed directly into the strategy. The focus will be on the future potential of the BCP network and the supports needed to achieve that potential.

Confirmed workshops for Tuesday evenings in March are:
