Cavan sees first connection under National Broadband Plan

The first connection under the National Broadband Plan has been made in Cavan.

The Allison family in the Drumard area were connected yesterday afternoon.

National Broadband Ireland has partnered with Belturbet company Arden Broadband as part of the rollout.

Yesterday’s was the first connection made by a ‘retail partner’, with NBI itself carrying out the country’s first connection in Cork last week.

Barry Wilson from Arden Broadband says the first connections will be made in the Killykeen area of the county, before moving to the Butlersbridge and Killeshandra areas.

And he says Cavan will be substantially covered this year.

Wilson was pictured cutting a cake to celebrate was delighted to connect the home to the National Broadband Plan (rolled out by NBI). The family were thrilled when they realised that their home now has download speeds of 539 mbps.
